Sempai Nikko is our newest Yudansha. She grew up on the east coast in a little town called Arden, Delaware. At six years old she declared to her family that she was going to live in California! She went on to talk about how California was sunny, beautiful and she would be moving as soon as possible. Her mother was quite perplexed about how her young daughter knew what California was, let alone anything about it. As she got older life pulled her in many different directions; art school in Philadelphia, entrepreneurial studies at the University of Delaware… but the aspiration of calling California home never did wane in her thoughts.
At the Age of 25 she packed up her puppy, Shelby, hitched her teardrop trailer to the back of the car and she was off. Finally realizing her childhood dream of living in California. After a few years of exploring, she purchased the little slice of heaven she now calls home in Grass Valley. Even more spectacular than anything she dreamed of as a child, a sweet little home on a couple acres with a beautiful pond and flowing stream. Four years ago she was craving something different, something more, something motivating. Which led her to the Hikari Ryuza Center where she found all of those things and so much more. She had briefly tried a few other Dojos back east, but never found anything that spoke to her the way Hikari Ryuza Bujutsu does.

Sempai Nikko began her training at Hikari Ryuza Do Kan under Senior Grandmaster Crimi and Grandmaster Shizumi Crimi in 2018. What began as training one day a week quickly turned to three or four as she got a glimpse of all that Hikari Ryuza Bujutsu has to offer. Her martial arts slowly seeped into her entire being, integrating into many aspects of her life. The drive and focus Hikari Ryuza Bujutsu cultivated allowed her to start up two successful businesses. Three years ago she started her own clothing business, Moonlit Muse that in short order became quite successful and even delved into the international market. Continuing to strive for more, she then opened an AirBnB – Renovating a fifth wheel to host guests next to her pond, which she affectionately refers to as “Peaceful Pond”
In May 2022 she received the official date for her Black Belt exam, September 3rd and 4th. Over the course of those two days Nikko would find strength within herself she had never known before. An experience that would change her forever. Passing her exam and wrapping that Black Belt across her waist was one of the most joyous, bright and monumental experiences of her life.
“Hikari Ryuza Bujutsu has helped me find and nurture such a brilliant strength and light within myself. To say I am honored to be a student of Senior Grandmaster Crimi and Grandmaster Shizumi Crimi does not fully express my gratitude for this experience and for each of them. I’m not sure there are any words that could ever fully convey these feelings. So I will demonstrate through action, by sharing what has been given to me in helping others find and nourish their own inner light.”
